Nearly 4 weeks since starting the new community

Hi guys I THINK its been nearly 4 weeks now since starting up the new community. How feels it was worth the effort? Personally I am dead chuffed despite a couple of weeks of depression with the notification settings (most hated specialist in the country I think!!).  However from a personal level it was all worth it. I just want to know if you feel the same?  Happy?  Let me know whether its feeling like home? Things I wish would develop more... 1) LIKING topics, images, clips that you appreciate.  Doing this gives us a sense of what the community likes most.  It shows trends of though and appreciation.  The person who created the post is notified and makes them happy too! 2) Content contributors.  For news, tuition, etc.  Anyone who is passionate about a brand can contribute news for that brand.  3) Video/audio uploads?  Are we guitarists or not?  You guys MUST have recordings of you playing?  The only reason I can think you haven't uploaded it is due to anxiety over what others will think?  Well get over it!!!! I want every rubbish recording you have!!  It is fascinating hearing how people are developing etc.  You could use it even as an audio diary of development - you could even start your own blog on the site showing demos of your playing, and improvements over time - anything goes!  I feel like its the school party when nobody wants to dance first.  I know it will all unfold with time. OK - Your thoughts and feedback - any ideas for future development would be great too. Hey - and do join in with the poll - never done it before?  I should do more!

Yeah the new forums GREAT, theres still times when I miss the old forum format though. Speaking of dodgy recordings heres my dodgy recording from yesterday,  I was uploading tones into my pod xt live pedal yesterday and thought this clean/reverb tone sounded like the James Bond theme tone, so I switched the vidcam on and did a take lol.

I've got the Forum then All Topics and I can see what folk are talking about so it makes it easy to pop on and catch up with the guitargeist of the moment, pukka.

    Richard,

Thanks it is a nice comfy forum! I've been here just for a few days so I don't know how it was before it became a community.

Can you move my topic from "electric guitar" to "build and repair" where it belongs please? And thanks for your support this morning! image

No!!! I think the facility must be completely missable - I MEAN ON HERE!! Directly to the website?  Load up your content to the site here?  There is a video section for it!

I haven't been around much since the new forum started due to a house move but I do have a quick look in every few days and I do like what I see. I have just uploaded my cover of Handbags and Gladrags to the clips section to see how it works and yes it was easy. (Richard you did ask for more video and audio uploads so I guess it's your fault if nobody likes it )

I was one of the sceptics but I really like the new forum.  Love being able to add photos, copied from the web, without having to store them on Photobucket.

What I am hoping is for everyone to feel it is "their" forum, "their" place - not Richards forum with an invite!

A want everyone to feel they have their part to play and we all make it better together.

In the past I have heard people say "its quiet around here" or "its not like it used to be" and then there would be a whole debate or why, how etc. and it drove me NUTS.

At least now everyone can actually decide to take part and allow the place to develop naturally or sit back and not contribute.  I suppose what I am saying is it feels more like there are "building blocks" in place now for the community to develop whereas in the previous format maybe there is only so far you can go with a plain forum format.  That is my view anyway.

Another former sceptic here, or I least I took some convincing. I do like it a lot now we've changed, and the expanded range of things on here, plus the nicer graphics and interface - all adds up to a considerable improvement, no question. I think there is a different kind of feel to this forum compared to others I've looked at - I wouldn't call it "quiet", it's quite active, but more I'd say that there seems to be a greater sense of continuity, with considered posts, and also the feeling that everyone finds something worthwhile in all, or most of, the threads. Some other places are very busy, but seem like a confused riot to me - I'd rather have space to breath and intelligent threads that develop and evolve, than people just firing off ill-judged opinions left right and centre, and getting into rows.

Happy or unhappy? Don't know really. It's different.

I was on the old forum for about 10 years, during which time I somehow managed to clock up 6,500-odd posts. But I think it's time to call it a day.

It's not really anything to do with the new forum format. It's just a convenient break point for me.

I may still pop in occasionally to see what's going on!

    All the best,
    Dave

Well that's fair enough - maybe your post would have been better served in its own thread?  Maybe you are communitied out!?

Shame - I would love someone to move the bass side forward and you could be a perfect person to do so.  Maybe a blog on a bass specific brand, bass tuition etc?

Bass guitarists seem to focus on "bass forums" which is a shame - there is no reason why a collective of bass guitarists couldn't build the bass side here.

Well as the voting buttons don't work for me and I cannot view the forum at work since the upgrade, I have to give it the thumbs down.

Your poll results say it all.

Love the forum format. Different to all the other you see. More multi media content should be encouraged and Even though I'm a total novice, I will supply a strum tomorrow
